Raised to Speak
Day 1: The God Who Sees Your Pain
Reading: Luke 7:11-17
Devotional: When Jesus saw the widowed mother of Nain grieving her only son, Scripture tells us "he had compassion on her." Before she asked, before she even knew He was coming, Jesus was already moving in her direction. While she wept through the night, He walked 30 miles uphill to meet her pain.
What burden are you carrying today that feels too heavy to bear? God sees you right where you are. Every tear you've cried, every prayer you've whispered in desperation—He knows them all. Like this grieving mother, you may not realize it yet, but while you're hurting, He's moving in your direction. Your circumstances don't determine His compassion. His love compels Him to interrupt your darkest moments with His presence.
Reflection: What situation in your life feels like a "funeral procession"? How does knowing God sees your pain change your perspective today?
Day 2: Walking with the Right Crowd
Reading: Joshua 24:14-15
Devotional: At the gate of Nain, two crowds collided—one carrying a corpse toward burial, the other carrying Jesus toward life. Every day, we choose which procession we'll join: the crowd of hopelessness or the crowd of faith.
It's easy to get swept into the funeral procession when circumstances scream defeat. Family history, cultural trends, and repeated failures can convince us that "this is just the way it is." But our circumstances don't dictate our outcome—faith determines our future. We don't serve a circumstantial God.
Joshua declared, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." This isn't passive wishful thinking; it's an active choice to walk with Jesus regardless of what everyone else is doing. Which crowd are you walking with today?
Reflection: What "hopeless" situation are you tempted to accept as permanent? How can you actively choose faith over circumstances today?
Day 3: The Power of One Touch
Reading: Mark 5:25-34
Devotional: When Jesus touched the coffin, the funeral procession stopped dead in its tracks. One touch from the Master halted the momentum of death and despair. He knows how to stop whatever is carrying your loved ones down the road of destruction.
The woman with the issue of blood understood this power. After twelve years of suffering and countless failed remedies, she believed one touch from Jesus would change everything. And it did. Her faith activated His power.
That addiction that's had a grip for years? One touch can stop it. That prodigal child heading the wrong direction? One touch can redirect them. Those influences pulling your family apart? One touch from Jesus can interrupt the momentum and change the trajectory completely. Don't underestimate what God can do in a moment.
Reflection: What situation needs Jesus to "stop the procession" in your life? Are you believing for one touch to change everything?
Day 4: Speaking Life to Dead Situations
Reading: Ezekiel 37:1-14
Devotional: Jesus spoke to a dead boy: "Young man, I say to you, arise." It seems foolish to speak to corpses, yet God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to dry bones, and they came to life. Sometimes you must speak life into death situations.
Your marriage may feel lifeless—speak life over it. Your relationship with your children may seem beyond repair—declare restoration. Your faith may feel dried up—proclaim renewal. This isn't positive thinking; it's prophetic declaration based on God's power to resurrect what's dead.
The enemy wants to silence your voice, to convince you it's pointless to pray, foolish to hope, naive to believe. But the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. When you speak God's Word over impossible situations, you're partnering with resurrection power. Don't let death have the final word.
Reflection: What "dead" area of your life needs you to speak resurrection over it? What specific Scripture will you declare today?
Day 5: Raised to Speak
Reading: Acts 2:14-21
Devotional: When the dead boy sat up, the first thing he did was speak. Death had tried to silence his voice, but resurrection gave him a testimony. Peter proclaimed on Pentecost that "your sons and your daughters will prophesy"—they will speak forth God's truth and testify of His goodness.
Every person God raises from spiritual death has a story to tell. "I was on my way to my own funeral, but then along came Jesus and changed my life." These testimonies change cities and transform regions. When the boy spoke, the report went throughout all Judea.
Perhaps you're the prodigal being raised up today. God isn't just saving you for your benefit—He's raising you to speak. Your story of redemption will bring hope to others walking toward their own funerals. You've been raised to speak of His goodness, mercy, and transforming power.
Reflection: How has God raised you from a "death situation"? Who needs to hear your testimony of His resurrection power today?
